Sovereign AI should not mean technological autarky. For Britain, it is better understood as dependable access to critical compute, energy, data, expertise and models under a range of geopolitical conditions.
Choosing where to lead
A credible strategy requires choices. Britain can combine frontier research with strengths in safety, science, financial services, public institutions and internationally trusted governance.
From announcements to capability
Infrastructure takes years to plan and build. Strategy should connect power availability, planning, procurement, skills and long-term demand rather than treating data centres as isolated projects.
